President’s Message

Welcome to Asia Pacific Alliance of Coaches (APAC)

The turn of a new year is a universal milestone for everyone, a common time for reflection and renewal, more so for coaches.

More than ever, we are living in a hyper-connected world that has a profound impact to coaches. Global accessibility, digital evolution, professional metamorphosis, and progressive enlightenment are new norms.

Regardless of the standardisation of coaching practices, the coaching industry continues to exhibit its unique fragmentation due to diverse cultures and dynamic paradigm shifts.

Welcome to Asia Pacific Alliance of Coaches (APAC)! Founded in 2007 by the late Foo See Luan who modelled passion and commitment, we provide coaches opportunities for growth, networking, collaborations, and contributions to the one-stop community in the Asia Pacific region.

With members representing 22 countries, APAC aims to harness and synergise the richness of our cultural diversity and philosophies that are hidden gems in this part of the globe. With our regular coaching research, and our partnership with coaches, organisations and non-profit set-ups, APAC strives to be the hub for the coaching voice for Asia Pacific. Our most recent joint event was a year-end Christmas party with six coaching networks in Hong Kong.

I am humbled, to say the least, to receive the baton from Uma Arora, as President for this 2-year term. I aim to build on the momentum set by the incredible work of our past Presidents and committed EXCO teams. We will forge stronger partnership with our esteemed members and stakeholders to transcend individual contributions and make this network larger than self.

We have launched a survey to hear from all members, past and present. This collaborative approach will help our new EXCO consolidate and co-create APAC’s future plans at the upcoming EXCO Retreat.

Meantime, we invite you to stay tuned and connected with our upcoming initiatives:

  • The first Power Hour of the year on 24 January 2024 featuring, “The Subtle Art of Coaching for Asian Leadership”.
  • A time to share and reflect at Coach Connect as we turn the lunar calendar.
  • APAC Voice, our quarterly newsletter will feature “Team Coaching” which is taking the coaching industry by storm.
  • Our bi-monthly face-to-face Walk and Talk in Singapore.
  • On-going pro-bono coaching for the social service sector.

I wish you a year of many positive transformations!

Warmly,

Irene Chia
President, APAC
